How many countries are in Eurovision 2025? Final to take place in Basel as Sweden favourites
The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is taking place in Basel, Switzerland this week with the final on Saturday night
It's the event that many music fans look forward to every single year and the Eurovision Song Contest will come to an end on Saturday night with the grand final.
After Swiss act Nemo triumphed 12 months ago in Malmo with their song The Code, its Basel that has taken on hosting duties for 2025 and, after months of preparation and national finals and internal selections, all eyes will fall on the city as this year's event got going with the first semi final on Tuesday evening, with a line-up that included current favourites to win, Sweden's KAJ with their track Bara Bada Bastu.
This was ollowed by a second semi on Thursday, when hotly tipped Austria, Malta and Finland among the 10 acts advancing from each to join the big 5 countries - UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy and host nation Switzerland, who all have a guaranteed place in Saturday's Eurovision final, which like the semis will air live in the UK on BBC One.
