WATERBURY — The 2025 Give Local campaign proved the power of giving with more than $2.5 million raised from donations, surpassing last year’s amount raised by $350,000.
Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills raised a record-breaking $2.51 million in 36 hours for 336 local nonprofits in the region. Hosted by Connecticut Community Foundation and presenting sponsor Ion Bank Foundation, the online campaign has supported nonprofits annually for 13 years.
This year, an unprecedented 7,044 individuals donated to their favorite nonprofit organizations, helping them secure bonus funds and cash prizes throughout the campaign. Nonprofits also engaged individual and business donors, and volunteers through matches, challenges and as peer fundraisers to help boost their donations.
Foundation President and CEO Kathy Taylor said in a statement: “While the world may feel complex and disconnected, the most meaningful change still begins right here—at home. Give Local is about a celebration of our shared commitment to one another, a reminder that when we come together to support local nonprofits, we’re not just donating—we’re investing in the well-being, resilience, and future of our neighbors and community, right here in Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills.”
In addition to the generous gifts from individual donors, nonprofits will benefit from nearly $180,000 in bonus funds and $41,500 in prizes which added excitement and encouragement of more donations during the campaign.
The incentives were made possible through contributions from Connecticut Community Foundation, Ion Bank Foundation, and several other donors and sponsors. All of the funds raised are distributed directly to participating nonprofits, minus any platform and credit card fees, which the majority of donors chose to cover. A week before the give-a-thon, the Foundation hosted a ‘Gear Up for Give Local’ party for sponsors, donors and nonprofit leaders to generate excitement and award early cash prizes.
