It’s another week of the Mountain West Recruiting Roundup.
It is clear teams are taking advantage of the contact period this spring. This is a time when coaches go out on the road to evaluate recruits in person. As one can guess, this process often leads to new offers being handed out to players. That was the case this week, with a total of 61 offers by nine different teams. New Mexico and UNLV led the way with offers, giving out 27 and 12, respectively.
There were also a handful of new commits this week and also a decommit early in the cycle. Air Force, San Jose State, and UNLV gained members in their class, with the Rebels actually adding two. Meanwhile, San Diego State lost another member of their class.
Out of the teams that picked up the new commits, Boise State is the only one that also handed out a new offer. Due to that, the Broncos get a week on the cover photo.
Class of 2026 Cover Photo Total:

- Boise State: 2
- Colorado State: 1
- San Diego State: 1

Recruiting Calendar:
From now through the last week of May, we are in a contact period. Coaches can contact recruits on campus, at a high school, and at home. This is the time when coaches will go to evaluate high school players in person and hand out offers on a more frequent basis. As always, coaches can still talk to recruits via phone, text, email, or DM.

Next College Student Athlete defines it as:
The NCAA Contact Period is exactly what it sounds like—all communication between athletes and coaches is fair game. Coaches can email, text, call, direct message and generally contact athletes and their parents through any NCAA-approved method. In-person contact can occur on the college campus, as well as at tournaments, at the recruit’s school and home. In other words, the communication floodgates are open, so take advantage of this opportunity to get unlimited access to talk to coaches.
Air Force Commitment Tracker:
Since the Air Force Academy regularly has by far the most commits among Mountain West recruiting classes, it’s fun to track them over the course of the year.

QB Samuel Shaughnessy (Air Force)
“I always wanted to play Quarterback for the Air Force Academy. I love the opportunity to play division 1 football, get an excellent education, and serve my country. It was a no brainer and I couldn’t be happier with my decision.”
