Non-profit group, Focus Africa, has been named Lead for Africa, Gender Priority Strategy (GEPS) by Africana Women Working Group at United Nations.

Chair of the Advisory Board, former Bayelsa Stste governors wife Mrs Alanyingi Sylva,, Focus Africa, according to the group, champions rights and opportunities of women on the continent. “This appointment empowers it to spearhead initiatives at advancing gender equality in nations and on the continent’.

Focus Africa is to bring voices on gender issues while advocating policies and actions to reposition and empower women,” said the group at the unveiling in Abuja.

Its appointment as Lead for Africa GEPS is call to action for continued pursuit of gender equality and empowerment.

Receiving the certificate from UN Ambassador, Sucex Ibeh, Sylva said this is more work for women engagement.

She pledged to work with her team to continue community impact projects.

Mr. Bright extended his appreciation to Prof Ada Juni Menakaya, UN Coordinator, Africana Women Working Group at the UN, and her team for their amazing work amplifying women’s voices.
