THOUGH SEVERE WEATHER IS NOT A BIG, BIG CONCERN FOR US, THERE WILL BE SOME POCKETS OF HEAVIER DOWNPOURS, SOME THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. WEDNESDAY JUST KIND OF A GLOOMIER DAY WITH SHOWERS THAT ARE GOING TO BE SLOW TO MOVE ON OUT. RIGHT NOW EVERYTHING IS QUIET ON THE LIVE RADAR. WE’RE HEADING UP ON 7 A.M. IT’S GOING TO BE 9:00 OR LATER TONIGHT BEFORE THAT RAIN MOVES IN. SO YOUR 12 HOUR FORECAST SHOWS TEMPERATURES CLIMBING UP TO ABOUT 79 OR 80 DEGREES. AND THEN AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST, WE GET INTO TOMORROW, IT IS A WEATHER IMPACT DAY RAIN OFF AND ON. PLAN ON WET ROADS FOR THE MORNING RUSH. WE SEE IT LIGHTEN UP A LITTLE BIT TOWARD LATE MORNING LUNCHTIME. SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THEN MID AFTERNOON A LITTLE MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS SO LIKELY TO IMPACT ANYTHING YOU HAVE GOING ON IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY. ON TUESDAY. THAT’S WHEN THE RAIN’S A BIT MORE WIDESPREAD. SOME THUNDER, SOME LIGHTNING, BUT AGAIN, NOT EXPECTING ANY SEVERE WEATHER AS WE GO INTO WEDNESDAY, YET ANOTHER WEATHER IMPACT DAY FOR US, 73 FOR A HIGH BUT LINGERING RAIN MODELS THIS MORNING. STARTING TO KEEP IT AROUND A LITTLE BIT LONGER. SO THAT LINGERING RAIN SLOW TO FADE. IT’LL END IN THE LATE AFTERNOON OR EVENING. THERE IS AN FC CINCINNATI MATCH WEDNESDAY NIGHT, SO IT SHOULD BE DRY FOR THAT. BUT YOUR TWO DAY RAINFALL TOTALS ARE LOOKING ANYWHERE FROM ABOUT A HALF AN INCH TO AN INCH AND A HALF OF TOTAL RAINFALL. SO TODAY IS DRY. THURSDAY LOOKS TOTALLY DRY AS WELL, AND THEN SOME LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS, POSSIBLY TO KICK OFF FRIDAY MORNING. BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE WEEKEND’S LOOKING PRETTY GOOD. TEMPERATURES WILL BE CLIMBING BACK UP INTO THE 80S AS WE GET INTO THE WEEKEND. I MEAN, HEY, TIMING WISE, I DON’T THINK ANYONE’S GOING TO COMPLAIN THERE IF WE HAVE ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL WEEKEN

Dry, But Not For Long

If you didn't have time over the weekend to work in the yard or mow the grass, try and get that done Monday because rounds of rain and storms are back starting after sunset.

Monday is a continuation of the gorgeous weather we enjoyed on Mother's Day. Plan on partly cloudy skies and highs that get pretty close to 80 degrees in the afternoon.

The rain holds off until after sunset, before rounds of rain and storms move in beginning overnight Tuesday.

West Chester quadruple murder sentencing to begin

A West Chester man could learn if he'll be sentenced to death for the murder of his wife and three members of her family.

Gurpreet Singh was found guilty by a three-judge panel on Friday for those 2019 murders. All four victims were found shot to death in a West Chester apartment in 2019.

In order for the death penalty to be put in place, all three judges would need to unanimously vote on that sentence.

Singh is expected in Butler County court Monday morning for that sentencing.

One dead in Middletown shooting

Middletown police are investigating after a shooting early Sunday morning that killed one and sent two others to the hospital.

According to the Middletown Division of Police, officers and fire personnel responded to the 1700 block of Sheffield Street around 3:25 a.m. Sunday for a report of gunshots.

Officials say once they arrived on scene, three people were found to have been shot while sitting in their car. Police say two people were transported to the Atrium Medical Center for treatment.

The third victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Neighbors tell WLWT they heard bullets flying, saying several rounds were fired.

No arrests have been made.

Ohio officers shot

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Columbus and are searching for a suspect accused of killing an officer near Cleveland over the weekend.

In the state capital, investigators say a suspect fired shots at an officer trying to stop him inside an Amazon facility, with bullets hitting the officer’s vest.

Officers returned fire, killing the suspect. The officer who was struck by gunfire was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.

In Cuyahoga County, a man is wanted after shooting and killing an officer Saturday night.

According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, 24-year-old Deshawn Anthony Vaughn shot and killed a Euclid police officer. Euclid mayor Kirsten Holzheimer said the officer responded to a residence for a "disturbance" and was "ambushed" by Vaughn, who shot the officer.

The officer has not been identified by Euclid officials.

Downtown Assaults

Happening Monday, one of the teenagers charged in a string of group attacks downtown is expected back in court.

Jadin Shaw, 18, faces charges for an assault on E. 6th St. Shaw’s bond was initially set at $10,000, which his family posted, but the magistrate raised the bond to $50,000.

Monday’s appearance is expected to be a pre-trial hearing.

Two hurt in shooting

Two people are hurt after a shooting early Sunday morning in Avondale.

While the conditions of the two victims are not known, we do know they were both taken to UC Medical Center just after 1 a.m. Sunday morning. Neither victim is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

It happened in Avondale, at Irwin at Eden Drive.

No one is in custody and police have not released any suspect information.

Anyone with information on this shooting is asked to contact Cincinnati police 513-352-3040.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Goshen Township, according to Ohio State Patrol.

Troopers say they responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle around 1:53 a.m. Sunday on State Route 28, at milepost 10.

Officials say the preliminary investigation revealed a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, being driven by an 18-year-old, was traveling eastbound on SR 28 when it struck Jacqueleine Rogers, 41, of Loveland, who was in the roadway.

OSP says Rogers sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Bethesda North Hospital, where she later died.

Mother-Daughter nursing unit

Coming out of Mother’s Day Weekend, everyday is a good day to remember the impact mothers have and one nursing unit is taking that to a new level.

We all want to make our mom proud, but one group of nurses are taking that idea to a whole new level, not only by working hard but working along side their mothers.

WLWT spoke with three sets of mother-daughter duos, all working in the Special Care Unit nursery at Mercy Health Anderson. They help bring more life into the world in their unit.

The daughters say their mothers inspired them to work hard and be the best versions of themselves, so they did just that by throwing on a pair of scrubs and following in their mother’s footsteps.

Cell phone ban bill

A controversial bill is heading to Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk.

Efforts to ban cell phones in schools have cleared the state House, as Ohio lawmakers passed a bill that would allow school districts to create regulations to limit phones.

It’s part of an effort to restrict screen time and limit distractions in class.

It would require all public schools to create phone use policies during school hours, as well as require the education department to set a model policy schools can choose to use.

Gov. DeWine has just days left to sign it.
